What I do
The jobs that sit
on a list for months.
Too small for a specialist, or too long a wait for one. These are my specialty — one job or a whole list of them, big or small.

Not on the list? Ask.
Most of the time the answer is yes. If it crosses into licensed electrical, plumbing or structural work I will say so and point you at someone who can do it, rather than have a crack at it.
Ask me about itA bit more on the ones people ask about
Fly-screens
Re-meshing, repairs and a proper wash, for windows and sliding doors. Pet-resistant mesh where the dog has had a go at it. Salt air is hard on screens up here, so if the mesh has gone brittle it is usually worth doing the lot at once rather than one at a time.
Curtains, blinds and tracks
Measured, supplied and fitted, or rehung into what is already there. Where a track is moved rather than replaced, the old bracket holes end up sitting below the new track — I will tell you that when I quote it, and price the make-good separately rather than leaving you to find out afterwards.
Hemming and alterations are done by a seamstress I work with rather than by me. I take the curtains, she does the work, and her rate is passed on to you at cost with nothing added. It means you are not chasing two trades for one job.
Patching and painting
Door handle dents, picture hook holes, cracked cornice, water-marked ceilings. Patched, sanded back and painted so you cannot tell where the damage was — handy at the end of a lease, or before the photos are taken for a sale. Interior and exterior, a single room through to the whole place. Furniture covered, edges cut in properly, and the site left clean at the end of every day rather than just at the end of the job.
Most of the time on a patch is setup and drying rather than the patch itself, so a few in the same visit work out much better than doing them one at a time.
Washing — roof, house, driveway
Driveways, paths, patios and fences come up with a pressure clean. Roofs get pressure cleaned too, tile and Colorbond — worked at the right angle for each spot rather than blasted straight up under the tiles. Gutters are a job in their own right: cleared out by hand and every downpipe flushed, on their own visit or while I am already up there.
Gardens and landscaping
Got a tired back corner or a side path that has had its day? Old sleepers out, ground levelled, pavers and gravel in — small landscaping jobs that change how a yard feels.
Hedging, pruning, mulching and garden bed work, with the green waste taken away rather than left in a pile by the bin. The sort of job where a yard has got away from someone and needs bringing back under control — good before an inspection, and good for an owner who is not local. I do not take on regular mowing rounds, so if that is all you need you are better off with a lawn contractor.
Hanging, mounting and assembly
Pictures, mirrors, shelving, the TV on the wall. Plasterboard, brick, hardwood and steel stud each take a different fixing, and using the wrong one is how a TV ends up on the floor. Flat-packs, sheds and outdoor kits built indoors or out — leave the boxes where they land. The packaging can go with me too if you want it gone, with tip fees passed on at cost.
How I price it
Competitive with anyone on the Coast, and agreed in writing before I start. Most jobs are a fixed price; bigger or open-ended ones go on an hourly or day rate, with a cap we agree first.
Quotes are free
No obligation, and no charge for coming to look. Send a couple of photos and plenty of jobs get priced without a visit at all.
The quote is the price
Itemised, in writing, scope spelled out. If I find something nobody could see, I stop and tell you before doing anything extra.
Materials at cost
I do not mark up materials. Marking up a supplier’s goods can void the warranty you would otherwise have on them.
Options, not ultimatums
Where there is more than one sensible way to do a job, you get both priced and you choose.
One visit beats five
Several small things at one property is one trip and one invoice, which is almost always cheaper than getting them done separately. Save them up and send the lot.
What is on your list?
Send a couple of photos and a line about it. You will hear back from me with a price in writing within the week — or a time for me to come and look.
