Quotes and pricing

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Quotes are free and there is no obligation. Send a photo and a short description and a lot of jobs can be priced without me coming out at all — which is faster for both of us.

Is the quote the price I pay?

Yes, for the work described on it. If I open something up and find a problem nobody could see — rot behind a panel, a frame that has moved — I stop and tell you what it means before doing anything extra. You never get a bill with a surprise on it.

How do you charge — hourly or by the job?

By the job, wherever I can, so you know the number up front. Rates are competitive with anyone on the Coast. Materials are listed separately so you can see what is labour and what is parts. For open-ended work like a big yard tidy-up, an hourly or day rate with an agreed cap usually works out better for you. Here is the full list of what I take on.

Is there a minimum charge?

Yes — there is a minimum for a visit, and it covers the call-out plus the first hour of work. Turning up costs the same whether the job takes ten minutes or an hour, so one small job on its own trip still comes to the minimum. If you have a few little things, save them up and do them in one visit: it is one call-out and one minimum, and you only pay for the extra time. Ask me and I will tell you the figure.

Do you supply the materials?

Yes, and they go on the quote at cost so you can see exactly what you are paying for. I do not mark them up — marking up a supplier’s goods can void the warranty you would otherwise have on them. If you have already bought something, or you want a particular brand or colour, that is completely fine — just tell me before I price it.

Getting the job done

How soon can you get here?

Depends on the week and on how big the job is. Small jobs usually get squeezed in quickly. If something is urgent — a door that will not lock, a screen off before a storm — say so when you call and I will tell you honestly whether I can get there or whether you are better off ringing someone else.

Do I need to be home?

Not usually, as long as I can get to the work and we have sorted access beforehand. Plenty of jobs get done while people are at work. For rentals I arrange access with the tenant directly.

Which suburbs do you cover?

Based in Buderim and working right across the Sunshine Coast — Buderim, Mountain Creek, Sippy Downs, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Kawana, Buddina, Warana, Wurtulla, Currimundi, Caloundra, Little Mountain, Pelican Waters, Golden Beach, Meridan Plains and the suburbs around them. Further out is often still fine — ring and ask before you assume it is a no.

Is there anything you cannot do?

Anything that legally needs a licensed electrician or plumber — wiring, switchboards, anything behind a wall that carries water or power, and structural work. In Queensland there are also limits on the value of building work an unlicensed contractor can take on. If a job crosses one of those lines I will say so and point you at someone who can do it, rather than have a crack at it.

Paperwork, paying and agencies

How do I pay?

The invoice comes by email once the job is done, and how to pay is on it. No deposit on ordinary jobs — if a job needs a big materials order up front, I will say so in the quote.

Are you insured?

Yes — public liability cover is in place. If you are an agency or a body corporate and need a certificate of currency and my ABN for your file, ask and you will have them the same day.

Do you do work for real estate agencies?

A lot of it — work orders, vacate lists, quotes the owner needs to approve, and before-and-after photos on every job. You do not have to fill in anything on this site either; email the work order through as your system writes it. There is a page for property managers here.

Still got a question?

Ring me, or send a couple of photos of the job and I will come back to you with a price.
